The results of the competition for the logo of KGHM’s Digital Future of Copper program were announced

45 participants, 37 entries - KGHM announced the results of the competition for the logo of the Digital Future of Copper educational program. The project is run the Central Information Processing Center (COPI), a division of KGHM. The participants are students from 8 schools sponsored by KGHM in the Copper Belt and the Lubuskie Province.

The winning logo was designed by Nikola Brzezowska from the United Europe’s Nations School Group in Polkowice. Starting today, her work will appear on all materials related to the Digital Future of Copper program. The logo is very modern and matches the colors of KGHM’s promotional materials. The design originally and simply links the program’s name to its objectives.

The competition jury also decided to award two honorable mentions: to Gaja Krażewska from the United Europe’s Nations School Group in Polkowice and to Wiktoria Kwaśnik from the Electrical and Mechanical School Group in Legnica.

“KGHM’s educational programs are hallmark on a national scale. The Digital Future of Copper is intended for future IT professionals whom we need in our mining industry. The creativity of the competition participants was truly inspiring, and I would like congratulate all the students. Such initiatives strengthen the relationship with the program participants and show appreciation of their commitment and creativity,” said Tomasz Zdzikot, the CEO of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

Tomasz Zdzikot added that the Digital Future of Copper program is extremely important because it represents another step in the promotion of modern technologies in the copper industry and in the development of the skills and talents of young people.

“The quality and creativity of the submitted works exceeded our expectations. The level of all the designs submitted in the competition was high, which testifies to the great commitment and talents of the participants. That is why we decided to symbolically award all students, as a sign of appreciation of their efforts and ingenuity,” added Adam Bugajczuk, the Deputy General Manager of the Division - representative of KGHM’s Management Board for cooperation with schools.

The author of the winning design admitted that her first idea for the logo was different.

“I worked on the logo for about 5 weeks, prepared several designs, and came up with a new idea at the last minute. I wanted it to be something creative, new, and at the same time easy to place on gadgets and in presentations,” said Nikola Brzezowska from the United Europe’s Nations School Group in Polkowice.

All the competition entries were extremely diverse and innovative. For the victory, the author received a prize of 2 thousand zlotys. The persons who received the honorable mentions and other participants also received gifts.

The participants in the contest for the logo of KGHM’s Digital Future of Copper educational program were students from the schools participating in the project.

The goal of KGHM’s Digital Future of Copper program is to ensure the development of secondary school students in occupations where digital competence is essential. The IT industry has recently been a leader in terms of both employer needs and attractive wages. Petros Psyllos, a well-known electronics engineer, programmer, and innovator, became the project’s ambassador. His activities include the implementation of modern technologies, including applications of artificial intelligence and virtual assistants.

The Digital Future of Copper program is intended for students of secondary schools - technical schools with classes with an IT profile and high schools with science profiles - who are potential future IT students.

Since 2018, KGHM has also been conducting the “Competent in the Mining and Metallurgy Branch” program. Nine schools from the Copper Belt are participating in the project carried out with the patronage of the company. The participating students have the opportunity to attend classes conducted by KGHM specialists and to receive scholarships for top academic performance. The objective of the project is to prepare graduates of technical and vocational schools for employment at KGHM.
