The new location of the Center will house over 200 wards. Volunteers from KGHM have been helping the center in Szklary for several years.
Among other things, they helped transport furniture and other accessories needed to equip the center. They spared no effort to help the young wards of the facility. Employees of the KGHM’s division make no secret of the fact that it is their greatest pleasure to cooperate and help other people.
“Work for the local community or, as in this case, for young people is our daily business. For us, volunteering is not an empty gesture, it is a way of life,” said Jan Demczak, an employee of the KGHM division, who was one of the persons involved in moving the centers to the new premises.
“Volunteering is KGHM’s strength. The company’s staff is always there when help is needed most. Their selfless commitment can be counted on not only by the company’s employees, but also by the residents of the Copper Belt. With good intentions and open hearts, we are able to unite around a noble goal,” added Sylwia Jurgiel, the spokesperson for KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
After moving and equipping the centers’ new premises, the wards will move in as early as in October. KGHM volunteers are already planning future activities with them.
The volunteers from the Ore Processing Plant have been very engaged in the support for the wards of the centers in Szklary and Lubin. In April, they prepared team-building sports tournament for them. In total, nearly 200 students participated in the event. They competed in 10 events, including shots into the goal, bowling, javelin throw, and slalom with a ball.
