Ongoing celebrations of the 60th anniversary of copper ore deposits discovery

60 years ago Polish economy noted a key event, opening a new chapter in the history of the region – said Paweł Hreniak, the Lower Silesian Voivode, during the ceremony under the Obelisk in Sieroszowice, commemorating the discovery of the copper ore deposit.

The Honorary guests of the ceremony included the representatives of the Jan Wyżykowski's family and his co-workers.

-Cooperation, courage and results orientation, the KGHM values they were familiar with. We are their successors and I hope that even on the hundredth anniversary Polska Miedź will be prosperous. Today we are a global company, however, our heart is here – said Piotr Walczak, Vice President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A

The main celebrations took place in Sieroszowice, under the Obelisk commemorating the discovery of the copper ore deposit and in Sala Miedziowa where Jan Wyżykowskiego was reminisced about: A video entitled "Ludzie Nauki" (People of Science) was also shown, and students of the primary school in Buczyn presented an artistic programme. Continuation of the anniversary celebrations includes concerts of, among others, Kayah, Marcin Wyrostek with the Corazon band, Anna Bystroń and the Kaliska Symphonic Orchestra which will take place in churches of Głogów and Lubin on 24 and 25 March 2017.
