Since 2020, more than 200 initiatives and programs have been implemented, such as the “School for Parents and Educators,” “Leader 100,” “Treasure Archipelago,” and “Power Star.” To date, over 45,000 people have benefited from those projects. In 2023 alone, as many as 8,000 people benefited from the programmes.
- This year, 75 pro-social activities and 8 000 participants are already behind us. The figures show how important the KGHM Academy is for the Copper Belt and beyond. We thank local authorities and NGOs for their cooperation. Cooperation brings tangible results and allows for the improvement and development of skills, whether those of parents or students," said Sylwia Jurgiel, spokesperson of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
- As a non-governmental organisation, we implement a number of projects that are important for the people of the entire region, which would not be possible without successful partnerships with local authorities and business. Thanks to the support of KGHM, the inhabitants of the region, and among them also a large group of employees of your company, benefit from various forms of support and development, for which we would like to thank you on our own and their behalf," said Anna Mazurkiewicz of the Głogów-based Open Door Association.
This year's activities as part of the KGHM Academy included cities in the Copper Belt, but also Chojnów, Chocianów, Krotoszyce and towns in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, such as Sulechów, Wschowa and Szlichtyngowa.
Dozens of editions of, among others, the very popular 'School for Parents and Educators' are behind us. It is a nationwide program aimed at preventing problematic behaviour in children and adolescents and raising the educational competence of parents and teachers. In the organization of the workshop, KGHM cooperates with Głogów’s Open Doors Association, the Imelda Association, and the Association of Large Families 3+ in Legnica. A valuable educational element is the exchange of parenting experiences between the participants and the so-called homework, i.e., the practical application at home and outside in the relationship with the child of the skills acquired during the classes.
The KGHM Academy also includes the project "Treasures Archipelago", which is a universal prevention programme aimed at pupils in primary and secondary school classes, aimed at reducing problem behaviours such as the use of alcohol, drugs, peer violence, etc. Parents of participating students and the school's teaching staff also participate in the programme.
The KGHM Academy also carried out projects on strengthening the self-esteem of the youngest inhabitants of the Copper Belt ("Star of Power") and initiatives related to discovering and developing potential among students ("Leader100").
Partnerships with local communities are the result of KGHM's commitment to the development of local communities. For years, the copper company has been building good relations with local residents, local authorities and NGOs. The Company continues to invite people to undertake activities as part of the KGHM Academy.
The copper giant supports local social, cultural, and quality of life improvement initiatives. To operate effectively, KGHM incorporates social, cultural, and economic elements into its projects.
KGHM's activities focus on charitable activities, preventive health care, the promotion of sport, as well as support for culture and science. KGHM employees are also highly involved in the implementation of social programs, taking part in numerous volunteer campaigns.
