The programme of the three-day Congress is very extensive. During the plenary session, the participants will learn about the assessment of the current status and development prospects of copper ore mining in Poland and worldwide, the mining forecasts and the demand for metals. The discussion will also revolve around the role of non-ferrous metal processing in Europe's energy transition and the constraints on the operation of non-ferrous metal production industrial processes both in Europe and globally.
‘This is one of the most important events in our industry. Dozens of experts in mining, metallurgy and non-ferrous metal processing are making presentations. This is an infrequent opportunity to also listen to scientists and researchers who deal with the industry on a daily basis. We are pleased that once again we will be able to create a kind of platform for the exchange of experience and discussions, and to look at the most important problems and challenges facing copper producers’, said Stefan Laskownicki, President of the Lubin Branch of the Association of Mining Engineers and Technicians.
Experts on copper mining and smelting
Several dozen presentations have been prepared and qualified by the Scientific Committee, whose work is coordinated by Prof. Robert Król, DSc, of the Wrocław University of Technology. The papers presented will also be published in selected scientific and scientific-technical journals, and the conference sessions have been divided thematically and relate to mining and smelting activities carried out at KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. In addition, a geophysical seminar, which has been very popular in previous editions of the Congress, will be held at one of the Company's mining divisions.
‘We have arranged the conference programme in such a way as to best highlight all the important aspects of the activities carried out in the Group's divisions and companies, thus providing an opportunity to present ideas and achievements to scientists, the hosts of the event and the companies working for them. The participants will therefore have the opportunity to learn about the current state and prospects of copper mining and smelting in the global economy, as well as the technical aspects of mining engineering, copper production and the technology for recovering accompanying metals. Attention will also be paid to the work organisation and safety as part of risk prevention. I assure you that it will be interesting, inspiring and interdisciplinary’, encouraged Professor Robert Król.
The programme also includes technical visits to divisions of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., an exhibition of machinery and equipment used in copper mining and smelting, technical exhibitions and poster sessions.
