Our Investor Relations (IR) team won first place in the prestigious Parkiet ranking of the quality of communication with investors, ex aequo with Tauron, in the part of the survey conducted among individual investors.

"This award is a great success for us. All the more so as we are receiving it from a prestigious group of experts and practitioners", said Marcin Chludziński, President of the Management Board of KGHM.

This is the seventh edition of the investor relations survey conducted by Parkiet and the Polish Chamber of Brokerage Houses. "Investing in relations with the market is not only a matter of image, but also of tangible benefits. A transparent company can count on better conditions from financial institutions and counterparties. In the long term, there is also a correlation between IR quality and share price," the ranking organisers wrote.

A recipe for good Investor Relations

- This is a dialogue that pays off for both parties. It requires a quick response to information requirements, especially in crisis situations. The information coming out of Investor Relations should always be complete and reliable, even if the circumstances are not favourable," says Janusz Krystosiak, Head of Investor Relations at KGHM.

The biggest challenges for Investor Relations in times of pandemic

"We miss the traditional contacts where we can talk about our business quickly and effectively. The pandemic has moved our conferences and interviews to virtual reality mode. Our current focus therefore is ensure that our corporate website provides the necessary information about the Company. We are trying to ensure that the flow of information and its quality remain at the highest level", says Stephen Marks, Investor Relations Manager at KGHM.

What are the most common issues that investors turn to Investor Relations for?

"Every investor has similar expectations - they depend on reliable information about the Company, its financial and operational condition and plans for the future. KGHM’s investors, both institutional and individual, are most often interested in the current operations and results. They also ask about strategy implementation and plans in the medium and long term. Increasingly, our individual investors want to know more about the macro environment in which we operate, the market conditions and current price forecasts for the commodities produced by KGHM," says Stephen Marks.

What did KGHM's Investor Relations team do in 2020?

  • continued publication of the Investor Newsletter
  • updated the IR section of the KGHM website
  • maintained traditional methods of contact, such as participation in conferences (online during the pandemic)
  • intensified activities related to enhancing the Company's ESG reporting
  • prepared new promotional materials for investors and the media
