Vision and tradition - the KGHM awarded for contribution to Polish culture and economy

Friday, 23 September, 2022
“For Merit to Polish Culture” award and Manager of the Year 2022 title for Marcin Chludziński, President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. - the awards were granted by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers.

“At the KGHM, we care about the future by mining raw materials that are the building blocks of the economy, but we remember that the future and the present are founded on the past, history, and tradition. Thank you for the opportunities I have received. I constantly add hard work to them and I am proud that this makes it possible to take care of the company and engage in other activities.” said Marcin Chludziński, the President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., when receiving the awards. He added that the awards are a token of appreciation for all employees of the company.

The Manager of the Year 2022 award was given to Marcin Chludziński for “effective management of one of the largest Polish companies, as evidenced by the record results for 2021.” The KGHM has consistently pursued its strategy, has not slowed its pace of investment, has increased its revenues, and has maintained production at a similar level to the previous year. This is despite the changing macroeconomic situation.

The KGHM is an active patron of sports, culture, and arts. For many years, it has participated in the organization or has assumed patronage of significant undertakings at the local, national, and international levels. This year, under sponsorship agreements, the KGHM is cooperating with the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the Warsaw Uprising Museum, and the Wrocław Opera, as well as other institutions. It also supports the Museum of Goldsmithing Art in Kazimierz Dolny, the only institution in Poland that presents unique works made of precious metals, including silver and gold.

As part of its cooperation with the Warsaw Uprising Museum, the KGHM co-organized this year’s commemoration of the Warsaw Uprising. A special bus transported residents and tourists to various sites related to that historic event.

The involvement of the KGHM in cultural initiatives, as well as artistic and sports activities, results from the goals set out in the company’s Business Strategy. The KGHM Polska Miedź Foundation also works for the benefit of local communities in Lower Silesia. The company consistently promotes cultural events and activities throughout Poland. It supports, among other things, film and theater productions, as well as festivals.

The KGHM is also the organizer of the “Ambassador of Poland” poll, which recognizes individuals who strengthen Poland’s reputation abroad on a daily basis. Like in previous years, ambassadors are nominated in the following categories: science, culture, sports, and the voters’ award. The award ceremony for the fourth edition of the competition will be held on October 6.
