The One Who Changes the Polish Industry

Herbert Wirth, the CEO of KGHM, was awarded with “The One Who Changes the Polish Industry” title. The award, granted by the Polish Society for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship, annually distinguishes the outstanding figures of Poland’s economy.

The awards ceremony closed the “We Change the Polish Industry” forum, which held debates by managers, government and parliament representatives and economic experts. They discussed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the Polish economy which has already used easily accessible growth reserves. They also envisioned the new areas of potential development.

“The winners serve as an example and promote values without which no economy could healthily develop. These are the free market and competitiveness, the responsible private ownership, the good and transparent regulations and the administration that realizes the role it plays,” Wojciech Kuśpik, president of the Polish Association for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship, said during the gala.

Herbert Wirth was awarded for his consistency, organizational skills and strategic business outlook that created new opportunities for KGHM’s global expansion. The Sierra Gorda mine is the largest Polish foreign investment worth US$4.2 billion.

“I appreciate the compliments but realize how little one man could achieve without a professional team. We should look for business opoortunities on distant markets. We have found our place there. I promise we will take other Polish companies onto this journey and have already done first steps. If you want to come with us, we will welcome your determination. We want to be a company known globally for its innovations,” Herbert Wirth, president and CEO of KGHM said.

Polish Society for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship has been giving “The One Who Changes the Polish Industry” awards since 2001. Among the winners of the title are more than 150 businessmen and politicians, CEOs, government officials and investors.
