Friday, 28 March, 2025
During the Lower Silesian Economic Forum in Trzebnica, KGHM received an award for its contribution to the development of Lower Silesia. On behalf of KGHM, the award was received by Zbigniew Bryja, KGHM’s Vice President for Development.

The Lower Silesian Economic Forum is a platform for meetings, discussions and exchange of ideas, focusing on the role of local authorities in shaping and stimulating the economic development of the region.

During the main day of the event, the Special Awards of the Lower Silesian Economic Forum were presented. The award for a real impact on the development of Lower Silesia went to KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

The award for KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. was given in recognition of the special merits of the entire KGHM Group and its employees for the development and promotion of Lower Silesia in Poland and globally. Thanks to the creation and development of KGHM, the importance of the region on the economic map of the country and the world has increased.

KGHM, together with its Group companies, is the most important employer in Lower Silesia - it employs 18.5 thousand people in KGHM alone (a total of around 34 thousand in the Group), which gives the region a competitive advantage and promotes sustainable development.

We are not only a key employer in the region, but also a good neighbour and social partner for the local authorities. KGHM has signed annual agreements for 2024 with 14 local governments for projects and investments dedicated to local communities for a total of PLN 3 million. These include more than 50 initiatives in such fields as the promotion of health, sports, culture and traditions.

We also pay taxes that go to the region's local authorities, thanks to which Lower Silesia and the Copper Belt can develop. Since 2020, we have paid more than PLN 1 billion in property tax alone.
