KGHM on the podium in the ranking "National Champions"

1st place for KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. in the economy category, 2nd place in the "National Champions" ranking, and 3rd place in a special category - the Green Champions. Copper giant high in 'Polityka Insight' report.

This year's "Polityka Insight" report brought KGHM Polska Miedź the 2nd place in the "National Champions" ranking. Thus, Polska Miedź maintained its position from 2020 and at the same time the status of "International Champion" together with PKN Orlen S.A.

Of the individual categories considered in the report, KGHM was ranked first in the Economy category. As the authors of the list argue "the leader in the economy category reflects the contribution of a given company to the economic development of Poland". KGHM also achieved 1st place in the ranking by main economic sector. In "mining and energy" it took first place out of 8 classified companies.

"Polityka Insight, due to the theme of this year's report "National Champions. How they support the environment" decided to additionally create a special category - the Green Champions, in which the involvement of companies in caring for the environment is assessed. In this classification, KGHM came in third place. As the authors of the report wrote about KGHM and mining company JSW S.A., which ranked 5th, "It is worth noting the high position of two mining companies. Despite operating in an industry with a relatively negative impact on the environment, these companies strive to reduce their footprint on nature with various shielding measures and minimising the externalities of their business."

"Polityka Insight" is the centre for political and economic analysis. The Polityka Insight report is an original programme. It was created on the basis of a methodology that allows to classify the 50 largest Polish companies in four categories: international champions, national champions, local champions and aspiring companies. What the national champions have in common is, above all, their great significance for the economy, understood as a high contribution to the economic and political potential of the country and their significant role in socio-economic development. The national champions support the export power of the countries with their brand name and pave the way for smaller companies in foreign markets. The national champions build the competitiveness of national economies through investment in research, development and efficient management.
