Zagłębie Stadium was built in 2009. For more than a decade, fans at the arena in Lubin have witnessed many events, including matches of the Polish national team or anniversary concerts of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. From now on, under the sponsorship agreement, the main facility of the Miedziowi is named KGHM ZAGŁĘBIE ARENA.
- Renaming the Miedziowi stadium is part of the modernisation of this arena, underlining our commitment. An investment plan that, as the owner of the club, we are successfully implementing. I'm talking here, among other things: about replacing seats for fans. Today we rejoice together with the club's supporters and keep our fingers crossed for the team's further successes," said Tomasz Zdzikot, President of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
Fans arriving in Lubin will notice the new façade at sector G. The structure is decorated with 201 vertical Z-shaped profiles stretching over 70 metres. Each profile is 11 meters high, and on the front there is a large inscription KGHM ZAGŁĘBIE ARENA.
The logo itself is over 43 meters long, and the height of each letter is consistent with the height of a football goal - 2.44 meters. After dark, the inscription is illuminated by an energy-saving LED installation fully powered by a photovoltaic installation located right next to the main Miedziowi facility.
- An arena of struggle, an arena where the battle is fought, but also an arena around which people who love football rivalry gather. I believe that this name contains both simplicity and power - said Michał Kielan, president of Zagłębie Lubin.
KGHM Zagłębie Lubin is entering the new season not only with football successes, but also with ambitious investment projects. The first stage of the reconstruction of the club’s historic facility - the miners’ stadium - is coming to an end. The club intends to select a contractor for the miners’ stadium by the end of September. A facility that meets the requirements of the Second Football League, including a heated pitch, is to be built within 20 months.
The investment project for the new sports arena is expected to begin in 2025. There, the footballers will have a full-size pitch, a gym and wellness facilities. Stands with 250 seats are also planned.
