The KGHM Reader’s Club’s library already has more than 800 books, including bestsellers by world-renowned authors, how-to books, trade books, and even fairy tales and school readings for young people. The company’s employees eagerly read popular publications, but the top 10 list also includes books published by KGHM that were co-authored by the company’s staff. Albums about mountains and those with Easter recipes are downloaded very often. Both types of books are available to everyone, not just KGHM employees, and can be downloaded by anyone interested from KGHM’s website:
We can already announce that the company’s book collection will be supplemented this year with original Christmas recipes from employees.
“We are expanding the KGHM Reader’s Club not only with new publications, but we also have plans for bonuses for regular readers and new ones interested in the book collection. The project’s Ambassadors are successfully operating in the company’s divisions. As everyone know, books not only provide knowledge, but also inspire action. We inspire and motivate our employees - residents of the Copper Belt and not only,” said Sylwia Jurgiel, the spokesperson for KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
Athletes from the Copper Belt are also joining the campaign, including award-winning female handball players of KGHM MKS Zagłębie Lubin and male handball players of MKS Zagłębie Lubin. Joanna Drabik, the pivot of the Lubin team assures that “reading gives a lot of pleasure, but also improves concentration and memory.”
The KGHM Readers’ Club is intended for the company’s employees, but we plan to expand the campaign in the region, including by organizing meetings with authors, cooperating with institutions and organizations that support reading, as well as digitizing the book collection. The campaign included comic book workshops for adults and children of the company’s employees. The participants discovered the secrets of comic book techniques, but also created their own characters and designed and painted their own stories.
In May of this year, KGHM employees also very eagerly participated in the “Give your book a second life” volunteer campaign. The staff managed to collect more than 1,500 books, which were donated to partner public libraries in Legnica, Lubin, Polkowice, and Głogów. The collection will also continue in October.
