KGHM’s book collection was announced on May 8. The date was no coincidence, as it marks the Day of Libraries and Librarians. The collection yielded unexpected results. Employees of KGHM’s divisions joined the campaign, which resulted in the collection of a total of 1,558 books.
“The response to the call to share books with others exceeded our expectations. KGHM’s employees, who always support our volunteer activities with great dedication, shared their favorite publications this time. We would like to thank them for this support, which also benefited the residents of the Copper Belt,” said Sylwia Jurgiel, KGHM’s spokesperson.
KGHM volunteers donated to the libraries books on, among others, history, parenting (due to the upcoming Mother’s Day and Father’s Day), as well as professional textbooks, books that help improve professional competence, how-to books, and detective stories. Some of the books collected will also go into the central catalog of the KGHM Reading Club, which is currently being developed.
This KGHM’s Employee Volunteer Campaign will not end with the book collection organized in May. As part of its CSR activities, the company is developing a program for education and promotion of reading, an element of which is the KGHM Reading Club with parents’ and enthusiasts’ libraries. Meetings with authors and cooperation with institutions and organizations that promote reading are planned, as well as digitization of the book collection.
Soon, thanks to a special application, employees of all KGHM’s divisions will be able to electronically place orders for the books available in the reading catalog, in both the e-book and printed formats.
