ESG
KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. has published the latest material summarising the sustainable development activities of the Group. The publication shows how KGHM combines the industrial scale of its operations with its responsibility to people, the environment and future generations.

Among the key themes of the publication was the presentation of the carbon footprint of KGHM's products, clearly lower than global industry averages. These are not declarations, but the result of systemic modernisation of processes and consistent investment in energy efficiency. This ensures that the cathodes, wire rod and silver in KGHM's portfolio are produced with less climate impact and go into industries that are themselves driving the green transition.

But impact is not just about emissions. It is also about community relations, transparency of rules, the strength of a values-based organisation and an awareness of the responsibility that comes with the scale of the business. Today, KGHM comprises seven business segments and dozens of companies in Poland as well as North and South America, supporting a global supply chain - from exploration and mining of raw materials, through processing and production, to metal recovery and recycling.

As a participant in the global transition, KGHM is not only taking active steps towards sustainability by aligning with ESG standards. For years, we have been actively supporting the transition of the global economy by supplying the market with high-quality copper, silver and rhenium, which play a key role in the development of environmentally friendly technologies’, said Andrzej Szydło, President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. ‘Despite the challenges faced by the mining and metallurgy industries, we are continually taking steps to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The carbon footprint of our main products is already below the average global indices’, he added.

The publication also shows how the KGHM Group meets its obligations towards the society and environment - through local support programmes, dialogue with stakeholders and the development of an organisational culture based on ethics, transparency and respect for human rights. The Group's activities cover the full value chain and are based on a responsible approach to raw materials, people and the planet - with a sustainable future in mind.

A presentation summarising the KGHM Group's commitment to sustainable development is available in PL version at: Zrównoważony rozwój w Grupie Kapitałowej KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
