Recommendations for increased incidence of COVID-19 - KGHM Medical Board deliberated

Thursday, 02 December, 2021
Let's care for our safety together - the Medical Board of KGHM highly valued the introduction of additional restrictions at all departments of the company. Authorities from the world of science and medicine with representatives of KGHM management discussed the development of the pandemic in Poland, ahead of the miners' Barbórka and Christmas holidays.

"From the first days of the pandemic, I set myself and my colleagues the most important task of ensuring maximum protection for the company's employees and their families. This has been successful. And at the same time, the time of the pandemic is a time of record results for KGHM. We are increasing production, we have higher revenues, therefore discipline among the staff is so important," said Marcin Chludziński, President of the Management Board of KGHM.

In the copper company, due to the developing fourth wave of the pandemic, the obligation to wear protective masks in common spaces in the company for all employees has returned. The organisation of and participation in newly planned national and international delegations and training trips is prohibited. Office workers have the option of working remotely.

"At KGHM we saw a slight increase in infections, but this did not affect our production plans. Introducing restrictions seems to be the best solution," added Adam Bugajczuk, KGHM's Vice President for Development.

The activities of KGHM are appreciated by Professor Andrzej Horban, who is a member of the Medical Board of KGHM and a national consultant in infectious diseases. "KGHM is a strategic company for the Polish economy. The restrictions are of great importance, although vaccination is the most important," said Andrzej Horban.

At KGHM, a campaign has been underway since August to encourage employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Mobile vaccine points appear in front of company departments. Employees, but also their family members, friends and acquaintances can be vaccinated.

The Medical Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. was established in 2019. It is composed of doctors, scientists and representatives of the management of KGHM. It supports and initiates all activities of KGHM and the KGHM Foundation in respect of broad local activities for the health of employees, the inhabitants of the Copper Belt and Dolnośląskie Voivodship.
