Nearly PLN 3 million from KGHM to the local governments of the Copper Belt for the realisation of pro-social projects in 2025

KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. has once again signed annual agreements with 14 local governments in the Copper Belt for the realisation of projects and investments dedicated to local communities. PLN 200 thousand each went to the following municipalities: Gaworzyce, Głogów, Grębocice, Jerzmanowa, Kotla, Lubin, Pęcław, Przemków, Radwanice, Rudna, Żukowice, and the cities of Głogów, Legnica and Polkowice. The funds were provided as part of the CSR Programme of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. and are intended to support the local governments in realising projects that are important for the region's inhabitants.

‘For years, KGHM has placed great emphasis on the social aspect of its activities. We want to be not only a key employer in the region, but also a good neighbour and partner for local governments,’ – said Zbigniew Bryja, Vice President of the Management Board of KGHM for Development. ‘I am convinced that the ongoing dialogue with local governments allows us to choose the best forms of support for local pro-social initiatives and enables us to better understand the needs and expectations of the inhabitants of Copper Belt,' – he added. 

As part of the funding, local government units will implement more than 50 initiatives in 2025 in the areas of e.g., health care promotion, sport, culture, and traditions. The individual projects were selected as a result of consultations with local government authorities in the region carried out last year. Their aim was to identify the needs of local residents and select the best forms of support for local initiatives. Funds, totalling PLN 2.8 million, have already been transferred to the authorities of the cooperating municipalities and cities.

For example, residents of Głogów will benefit from examinations and consultations at the Endocrinology Outpatient Clinic for the prevention of thyroid diseases, as well as children and young people from Jerzmanowa will be able to participate in a prevention and health holidays programme. Sports activities for pupils in the Lubin municipality will also be subsidised. In the Radwanice municipality, a brine graduation tower will be built in a historic park. The ‘Healthy Legnica’ programme will also be continued.

The following are selected pro-social initiatives as part of KGHM's cooperation with local government units in the Copper Belt planned for 2025:

Gaworzyce Municipality: programme to strengthen the Gaworzyce Municipality in the areas of health, culture and social integration and to stimulate local activity.

Głogów Municipality: modernisation of the village activity centre in Grodziec Mały.

Grębocice Municipality: concert entitled ‘Grodowieckie Ostatki’ – Marian Sanctuary in Grodowiec, Valentine's Day – tray workshop for couples on the occasion of Valentine's Day and stan-up for adults, ‘Winter holidays 2025 Campaign’ – cultural and sports event entitled ‘CITY OF GIGANTS’ – KGHM AND GRĘBOCICE, aimed at children and young people.

Jerzmanowa Municipality: implementation of a health prevention programme, visits to a swimming pool for primary school pupils and 6-year-olds, organisation of health holidays for children and young people.

Kotla Municipality: development of playgrounds and sports fields in the municipality, retrofitting of village halls and community centres and replacing their heat sources, renovation of rooms in the Village Community Centre in Grochowice.

Legnica Municipality: health promotion programme Healthy Legnica – activities in the field of health promotion, healthy lifestyles and pro-social activities.

Lubin Municipality: Project ‘Gambit’ – a series of training sessions involving the teaching of how to play chess for residents of the Lubin Municipality area, project ‘Akademia Żaczek’, organisation of classes and a Road Safety Tournament for primary school pupils, programme for the prevention and early detection of overweight and obesity among children.

Głogów Municipality: health prophylaxis – tests and consultations at the Endocrinology Clinic for the prevention of thyroid diseases.

Pęcław Municipality: preventive examinations for inhabitants, KGHM Sports Academy Pęcław Municipality, organisation of trips to the swimming pool for children from the municipality.

Polkowice Municipality: socio-cultural events for the residents of the Polkowice Municipality villages of Dąbrowa, Komorniki, Pieszkowice, Tarnówek, Żelazny Most, Żuków: Santa Claus workshops for children, a Santa Claus meeting, Christmas workshops for adults, Senior Citizens' Day in Żelazny Most, a Christmas wafer meeting in Żelazny Most, Christmas parcels for children and young people under 18, Christmas parcels for Seniors 60 +, New Year's dances.

Przemków Municipality: modernisation of the roof of the village hall in Jakubów Lubiński, purchase of uniforms for the Przemków Brass Band.

Radwanice Municipality: construction of a brine graduation tower with technical infrastructure in the historic park in Radwanice.

Rudna Municipality: events planned for 2025: Harvest Festival ‘Dozhinki’, Children's Day, Christmas Fair, Lemkos Singing.

Żukowice Municipality: Municipality Harvest Festival ‘Dozhinki’, Municipality Fireman's Dancing Day, Women's Day, Żukowice Municipality Cultural and Community Feast, Municipality Children's Day, Holiday Greeting, Senior Citizen's Dancing Day.
