More than PLN 1 million from KGHM to support children and seniors from the Copper Belt

Trips, summer camps, and rehabilitation stays with support from the KGHM Polska Miedź Foundation - more than PLN 1 million will go to the communes and municipalities of the Copper Belt for the organization of projects for school children and seniors.

“As part of the Foundation’s activities, we help implement socially important local initiatives and projects important to local residents. We take care of health, support hospitals and clinics, renovate monuments, and organize cultural events, but also subsidize summer vacation trips. We are working together for the benefit of the Copper Belt,” said Helena Krupska, the president of the KGHM Polska Miedź Foundation.

Students from the communes of Kotla, Żukowice, and Grębocice have a chance to go on school trips. Seniors from Grębocice, on the other hand, have received funding for therapeutic and rehabilitation stays for persons previously ill with COVID-19 or with disability certificates.

The “Porozumienie Wzgórz Dałkowskich” Foundation, thanks to KGHM’s support, will organize summer camps for children and young people from villages located near the Żelazny Most Mining Waste Disposal Facility. Elderly residents in the area have the opportunity to go on rehabilitation trips.

“KGHM knows exactly how to combine business with support for local communities. For years, we have proven that we are a very good neighbor. The projects subsidized by the KGHM Foundation are always close to the region’s residents,” added Sylwia Jurgiel, the spokesperson of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

The KGHM Polska Miedź Foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. For years, it has supported initiatives in four areas: culture and tradition, sports and recreation, science and education, and health and safety. It was established in 2003 as a natural continuation of the tradition of the long-standing pro-social activities of the Founder, KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., a global manufacturer of, among other things, copper and silver, with over 60 years of experience.
