Friday, 25 April, 2025
Traditionally, this year's Metallurgist’s Day celebrations will begin on 4 May with the laying of flowers at the statue of St. Florian, patron saint of metallurgists and firefighters, in front of the Głogów Copper Smelter. The main ceremonies with the participation of KGHM’s authorities are scheduled for 9 May. In addition, a Metallurgist's Day picnic with well-known celebrities will be held on 17 May in Legnica's City Park. Since its inception, the company has cultivated industry traditions, celebrating both the Metallurgist's Day and St. Barbara's Day. More than 3,600 people work in KGHM's smelters.

Metallurgist’s Day 2025

The main festivities for this year have been scheduled for Friday, 9 May. They will begin at 9.00 a.m. in front of the company's headquarters in Lubin with the metallurgists’ orchestra from Głogów and a group of majorettes welcoming the company's Management Board and the chief executives of the foundries. At 2 p.m., a ceremony will commence at the Głogów City Cultural Centre, at which state awards and industry badges of ‘Merit for KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.’ will be handed. The day will end with the traditional events: an inn dinner and a feast called ‘comber’, both of which will take place in Głogów. A solemn Mass for metallurgists and their families will be celebrated on Sunday 11 May at 12.30 p.m. in the Collegiate Church in Głogów.

On the occasion of Metallurgist's Day, special attractions have been prepared by the Legnica Copper Smelter, which will invite the public to the City Park for a picnic on Saturday 17 May. Numerous attractions await all visitors, including an amusement park, animations, shows, mapping and a performance by the Metallurgists’ Orchestra from the Głogów Copper Smelter, with majorettes. The stars of the event will be Cleo and Jacek Stachursky. In addition, the Legnica Copper Smelter’s open days will be held on 24 May and 7 June from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
