The Głogów and Legnica Copper Smelters have once again earned the Copper Mark. It is an international certificate confirming efficient copper production according to the highest standards, demonstrating compliance with environmental standards, the use of responsible production practices and cooperation with stakeholders and the local community.
The auditors' report for 2024 showed full compliance of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. with all the requirements of the standard. KGHM’s smelters have thus received confirmation that they belong to an elite group of companies from around the world as reliable and responsible business partners.
‘Receiving the Copper Mark certification once again confirms that our smelters are modern and environmentally friendly. We have the latest copper smelting technology and modernised infrastructure, which is a guarantee of responsible production. We are working effectively and to the highest standards’, said KGHM’s CEO Andrzej Szydło.
Copper Mark auditors periodically check the compliance of the business processes in place at KGHM’s smelters with the criteria for awarding the mark by analysing activities related to, among other things, environmental protection, the metals supply chain, working conditions, risk management practices or cooperation with local communities.
The Copper Mark, which KGHM - as a member of the programme - can use in its corporate publications, in contracts or on copper products, indicates to investors and business partners, among others, that KGHM’s smelters produce metals in a manner consistent with the highest standards.
The Copper Mark was created at the initiative of the International Copper Association and its member companies. The Głogów and Legnica Copper Smelters have held this prestigious certificate since 2021, while the Cedynia Copper Smelter has been certified since 2023.
