Once again, KGHM’s campaigns and pro-social activities were included in the prestigious Responsible Business Forum report, which presents the activity of the largest Polish companies in the field of CSR activities in 2023. The report lists five good practices implemented by KGHM.

Published annually by the Responsible Business Forum, the report “Responsible Business in Poland. Good Practices” is the largest overview of CSR and sustainability initiatives in Poland.

The following KGHM activities qualified for this year’s report:

- KGHM Wonderful Parents;

- the campaign promoting preventive medical testing;

- the volunteer campaign Doughnut with Noble Filling;

- the social campaign Having a Family;

- KGHM’ Readers’ Club.

The good practices implemented by KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. in the area of corporate social responsibility involve not only activities that are immensely needed by the society, but also - in the objective opinion of the Report’s authors - initiatives worth following also by other entities in Poland. In the implementation of its unique projects, the company involves volunteers, local governments, and NGOs.

KGHM’s new activity included in the report is the Readers’ Club, which promotes reading among the company’s staff. KGHM’s divisions have appointed coordinators and thousands of books have been added to their libraries, which can be borrowed remotely and easily. As part of KGHM’s Readers’ Club, two collections were held to give a second life to books and the “Have an appetite for reading” campaign was launched to promote reading and book borrowing. As part of the project, KGHM cooperates with local libraries or organises, among other things, comics workshops.

Each year, KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. is involved in the promotion of cancer prevention during the “Pink October” and “Movember” campaigns. The activities organised among its employees are aimed at raising the awareness of women’s and men’s health problems and cancer prevention by, among other things, encouraging medical examinations. In 2023, all KGHM divisions were involved in the promotional activities. They were also supported, among others, by athletes from the Copper Belt’s various sports teams, recipients of scholarships in the “Copper Rivalry” program, and other athletes, including KGHM’s ambassador, the famous ski mountaineer Andrzej Bargiel.

The company’s 'Doughnut with Noble Filling” campaign is a continuing success. Its purpose is to help those KGHM employees and their family members who are in a difficult situation and need support for treatment or rehabilitation. As part of the project, the company’s volunteers distribute doughnuts at all KGHM divisions on Fat Thursday. In 2023, the campaign broke a record: thanks to the exceptional generosity of employees of KGHM and KGHM Group companies, more than PLN 143 thousand was collected. This is one of the largest volunteer campaigns at KGHM.

The report also includes the campaigns “KGHM Wonderful Parents.” Employees who have recently had a baby receive a special package and a congratulatory letter. Last year, after three and a half years of the campaign, the one thousand and five hundredth KGHM Wonderful Parent was recorded.

In 2023, KGHM continued to implement the Have a Family campaign in cooperation with local governments and aid institutions. Numerous activities were organized to promote and support foster parenting in the region: funding of programs to improve parenting skills as part of the KGHM Academy, holiday trips for foster carers, and organization of, for example, family rallies on the Jakuszycka Glade together with the Bieg Piastów Association.
