On Monday, 16 September, KGHM’s Management Board declared, in relation to the current flood-related situation in Lower Silesia and Poland, that its operational facilities are functioning and safe. At the moment there is no threat to any of the production facilities of KGHM.
As regards the Żelazny Most Tailings Storage Facility, the Company announced that its condition is constantly being monitored. The level of water in the facility is safe and below the amounts that would indicate any heightened level of risk.
In those KGHM facilities which are located near rivers, crisis teams have been alerted which are reviewing the situation, and are also in contact with local authorities and flood-related services responsible for the region.
Safety is the priority and highest value of KGHM. The Company, as a responsible neighbour which cares for its employees and local communities, is providing active assistance to local authorities and NGOs. On Saturday, 14 September, the Legnica Copper Smelter and Refinery donated 40 tonnes of sand, sandbags and equipment for their transport to local communities.
Volunteers of KGHM organised a collection in the Divisions where employees may donate first aid equipment and related items to persons affected by the floods.
The company Uzdrowiska Kłodzkie S.A. Grupa PGU, a KGHM Group company, plans to donate its Staropolanka bottled water to flood victims and emergency/aid services in the Kłodzko region.
The Management Board of KGHM is constantly reviewing its actions in light of the flood situation and is taking actions as regards KGHM’s assets and the Company’s support of local communities and local authorities.
