On 27 January 2025, a meeting was held in Warsaw between representatives of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. and the Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański, the Deputy Minister Jarosław Neneman and the Deputy Minister of State Assets Robert Kropiwnicki.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss proposed changes to the formula of the so-called copper tax and the possibility of strengthening the long-term development of KGHM's domestic assets through investment in Poland.
The company is of key importance to the Polish economy and Europe's largest producer of copper, considered a strategic resource for the European Union. It accounts for almost 50% of the mining copper production in the European Union.
