KGHM invites you to celebrate Barbórka

Tuesday, 21 November, 2023
The traditional Fox Major parade, the jump over the fur, awards for miners - KGHM announces the main Barbórka celebrations and invites you to celebrate together. The central celebration of the miners' holiday this year will take place on 1 and 4 December.

On Friday, 1 December at 1.30 pm at the CK Muza in Lubin, a ceremonial award ceremony will begin for the most deserving employees. Distinguished miners will receive state and jubilee awards and honorary miners' swords - a symbol of the miner's honour, freedom and dignity. Moments before the ceremony, the people of Lubin will be able to listen to the Lubin Miners' Orchestra, which will perform several pieces in front of the entrance to the CK Muza, and later grace the decoration ceremony.

TRADITIONS OF THE MINERS' HOLIDAY

After the Academy, the Fox Major parade will set off for the Lubin Market Square. The spectacular march through the streets of the city will conclude at 16.00 with the traditional jump over the fur ceremony, the symbolic acceptance of the young workers into the mining fraternity.

- Barbórka is a time to give thanks for the work and commitment of the crew and the support shown by the people and neighbours of Polska Miedź. Mining traditions are very important to KGHM and the entire Copper Belt community. Much excitement and emotion accompanies, for example, the jump over the fur ceremony or the Fox Major parade, when all residents can feel part of the mining fraternity. I invite you to celebrate together and share these beautiful experiences - said Tomasz Zdzikot, Chairman of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

The day will conclude with the traditional miners' feast. The men will celebrate at an inn, which will be held in the RCS sports and entertainment hall in Lubin, while the ladies will meet at the folklore event called "Comber" at ZG Rudna.
