The personnel decided, the money was donated - thanks to the enormous commitment of the employees of KGHM, the copper giant donated over PLN 40 thousand to children in foster care in the Copper Belt. This is the result of surveys carried out among the Company's personnel. The Management Board of KGHM has declared that, for each completed questionnaire, it will donate PLN 5 to a care institution.
The questionnaires were completed by over 8000 employees, or as much as 43 per cent of the personnel of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
"It is important for KGHM to manage in such a way as to enable the personnel to be effective at work and to engage, among others, in voluntary activities. The turnout in the surveys shows that our employees are very sensitive and want to get involved in helping the people of the Copper Belt," said Lidia Marcinkowska-Bartkowiak, Chief Communication Officer at KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
Money collected from surveys went to 13 poviats indicated by KGHM employees, including Lubin, Głogów and Polkowice. Lubin starost, Adam Myrda, thanked for the support and emphasised that KGHM has been involved in social programmes in the Copper Belt for years.
The funds which have reached the local poviats will be used for rehabilitation, courses and teaching aids for children from foster care, i.e. from orphanages and foster families.
KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. is heavily involved in foster care in its pro-social activities. Two years ago, the copper company initiated a campaign to find foster parents for the youngest inhabitants of the Copper Belt entitled MiedzRodzine.pl. All the copper poviat governments, as well as other companies in the region, became involved in the campaign. Thanks to the activities undertaken, it was possible to find more than a dozen couples who are currently being trained as foster parents.
