– We took into account changes in gas prices on global markets, the value of CO2 emission allowances and – above all – the situation of residents. This allowed us to reduce the heating tariff in Głogów by almost 20 percent. We believe that this will be a noticeable change for over 20,000 households in Głogów - says Piotr Chęciński, director of corporate communications of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
The heat generated by KGHM and Spółka Energetyka is supplied to the inhabitants of Głogów by WPEC Legnica. The companies have reduced their rates, which will result in a significant drop in costs for residents.
In addition, residents affected by the increases will be able to count on a surcharge of around PLN 50/month from September to December this year. On average for this period, the subsidy per household will amount to approximately PLN 200. Funding for this will come from the city budget.
- The total value of the subsidies is as much as PLN 4 million. We will introduce an appropriate resolution at the next session of the City Council. As if to compensate for this expense, KGHM will support our city in the Modern Hospital programme by co-financing the modernization of the surgery department. We are also talking about KGHM's support for other areas of life in the city - added Rafael Rokaszewicz, mayor of Głogów.
As part of its broad programme of CSR and socially responsible business activities, KGHM supports the local governments of the Copper Belt, including Głogów. This year, among other things, the city received an earmarked grant for the implementation of activities for residents.
Thanks to support from the copper company, examinations and consultations will be carried out in the osteoporosis, nephrology, endocrinology or pulmonology clinics in Głogów.
Also this year, KGHM became the naming rights sponsor of two sports teams in Głogów. Volleyball and handball players play under the name of the copper giant.
