KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. and companies in its Group continue their aid activities in support of local governments and people affected by the flood - every day essential products and special equipment are delivered, and voluntary work is carried out in the most affected areas.
Support in the form of equipment and materials
KGHM divisions and companies in its Group continually organise collections of essential materials and equipment most needed by the flood victims: hygiene products, blankets, work clothes and cleaning tools.
KGHM Group companies have also lent specialised equipment for work in preventing and removing the effects of flooding, and delegated their employees to operate it or train in its use.
PeBeKa has supplied mining lamps for the municipality of Kotla and pumps for pumping out flood water for the Cieplice spa. KGHM Cuprum has donated power generators, pressure washers and flood recovery equipment to Stronie Śląskie. The Polish Spa Group, on the other hand, has rented 15 dehumidifiers, which were delivered to Jelenia Góra, and Lubinpex has provided hot meals for the staff securing the dikes.
Centrozłom has provided containers for waste disposal and also has helped to clear the Odra canal at the Maria Mill in Wrocław. Pol-Miedź Trans has donated the necessary equipment to the Wilkanów Municipality, and KGHM ZANAM has provided 50 tonnes of sand and bags to secure the floodplain.
Involvement of staff and volunteers
Employees of the KGHM’s divisions and volunteers are a key element of the assistance provided by the company. Many are donating their time and private resources to support the people in the flood-affected areas. Employees not only donate essential products, but also get involved in rescue efforts: filling sandbags, monitoring the condition of dikes, helping to reinforce them and reporting on seepage. The rescuers of the MMRJ division have assisted Polish Railways staff in pumping out water from the flooded track bed at the level of the tolerance bridge near the old town in Głogów.
The KGHM Foundation has donated PLN 5 million to help the flood victims
The KGHM Foundation has already donated PLN 5 million for flood relief and support for those affected. Moreover, the Management Board of the KGHM Polska Miedź Foundation has decided that all funds paid into the Foundation’s account until 20 October 2024 will be used to assist victims of disasters and natural catastrophes.
Assistance continues and will continue
The relief activities are continuously coordinated in cooperation with the relevant services and organisations operating in the affected areas.
