“At KGHM, we work as a team of ambitious and courageous people. As a result, we achieve very good production results, we invest, and we allow the company to grow. We can also support those who need it. The winning handball team from Lubin brings pride and much joy to the Copper Belt. I believe that the continuation of the cooperation will bring a lot of benefits to both sides,” said Tomasz Zdzikot, the CEO of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
“I’m very happy that the contract has been concluded for three years, which will give us the comfort we need to play not only in the Women’s Champions League, but also in the national league games. This will give us great stability in the coming years and allow rational planning in the development of the team. We want to keep moving forward, but it would not be possible without KGHM. Our participation in the Women’s Champions League this year is possible primarily thanks to KGHM,” added Witold Kulesza, the president of the club from Lubin.
The handball players of KGHM MKS Zagłębie Lubin are this year’s Champions of Poland. The athletes have won the gold medal three times in a row, and a total of four times in their history. The club has also won 13 silver and 4 bronze medals in the Polish Championships, as well as eight Polish Cups. This makes KGHM MKS Zagłębie Lubin one of the most successful clubs in the entire country.
Thanks to winning the Championship of Poland in the last season, the team will have the opportunity to play against the best European teams. In the Women’s Champions League, they were placed in Group B, where they will face, among others, Vipers Kristiansand from Norway, currently the strongest team in Europe.
On Saturday, September 9, the handball players of KGHM MKS Zagłębie Lubin will play their first historic game in the Women’s Champions League. The Slovenian champion RK Krim Mercator Ljubljana will visit the Regional Sports Center’s arena.
