Amongst other things, KGHM runs the patronage programme 'Competent in the Mining and Smelting Industry'. This project involves 9 secondary schools in the Copper Belt. Young people acquire practical knowledge in modern workshops provided by the copper company. As part of the project, internships are also organised at divisions of KGHM, and the best pupils have the opportunity to win scholarships.
The 'Competent in the Industry' programme was launched in 2018 and so far has covered several thousand school students from the following counties: Legnica, Bolesławiec, Lubin, Głogów and Polkowice. Young people are educated in specialised fields such as miner of underground mining of minerals other than coal, operator of processing machines and equipment, smelting technician or metallurgical industry technician. The proposed fields of study are on the ministerial list of the most needed professions in Poland.
KGHM is also recognised for its programmes, carried out jointly with the local governments from the Copper Belt, supporting education and the family, as well as projects related to the fight against depression.
The 12th 'Trustworthy Employer' Competition was organised under the honorary patronage of, among others, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of State Assets. The Competition Chapter is composed of representatives of non-governmental institutions, associations and organisations bringing together entrepreneurs and universities.
