Joint resilience against cyber threats - KGHM joins the ISAC SiG

Monday, 01 December, 2025
KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. has joined the ISAC SiG (Information Sharing and Analysis Centre for Raw Materials and Geodiversity), an inter-company collaboration platform for sharing information on cyber threats and best practices in the area of IT and OT security. The organisation brings together key natural resource and geological companies in the country and aims to strengthen digital resilience and protect critical infrastructure of key importance to mining and metallurgical operations.

Infrastructure security

‘Joining the ISAC SiG confirms KGHM's role as an organisation responsible for the security of strategically important industrial infrastructure. Cooperation with other entities in the sector will allow us to better identify risks and respond to them before they could affect the continuity of technological processes’, said Andrzej Szydło, President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. ‘Cybersecurity is an integral part of operational security. Within the ISAC SiG, we will share our experience and participate in the development of practices that will really strengthen the protection of industrial infrastructure and enhance the resilience of the entire mining sector’, he added.

The membership in the ISAC SiG is a further step in strengthening KGHM's digital resilience and protecting the critical infrastructure that underpins the company's mining and metallurgical operations. Collaboration within the organisation will enable KGHM experts to share information on cyber incidents and trends with trusted partners on an ongoing basis, as well as gain access to analyses, reports and decision support tools for cyber defence. It is also an opportunity to strengthen relationships with industry experts and institutions responsible for the security of critical infrastructure.

Working together for security

‘Collaboration within the ISAC SiG is an important part of building a mature cybersecurity ecosystem for us. It provides access to reliable and timely information on attacks targeting the mining, metallurgy and energy sectors - including control systems, automation networks and telemechanics systems. This knowledge allows us to identify potential threats more quickly and address them appropriately. In practice, this translates into more effective protection of both IT and OT environments and, consequently, into a higher level of operational security for the entire organisation’, noted Piotr Słowik, Director of the Cybersecurity Department (CISO) of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

An important element of ISAC SiG membership is the testing and development of security standards, which really improve the level of protection for the sector as a whole. In addition, joint exercises and training of services responsible for cybersecurity in strategic companies is an opportunity for continuous competence development and experience sharing.
