Copper Talks 2021 - KGHM and Polish Copper Employers Union initiate "Polish TED Talks"

Tuesday, 01 June, 2021
"The future is made of copper" - following this motto, KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. together with the Polish Copper Employers Union organised a unique meeting during which experts in science, cyber-security and psychology shared original ideas about the modern world and its development.

TED Talks are famous meetings of experts in various fields broadcast on Youtube. Copper Talks 2021 is an initiative with a similar format, but with its own formula and specifics. The topics discussed during the first event were related to industry, science and technology in a broad sense.

"For 60 years KGHM has been extracting the best from the Earth and sharing it with the world. Thanks to copper, we can operate electronic devices, and we use it in electromobility, renewable energy and medicine. However, we want to share not only the natural wealth of the earth - we want to share inspiration and concrete, up-to-date knowledge presented by experts endowed with special talents", this is how Paweł Ernst, Vice-President of the Polish Copper Employers Union, explains the idea of Copper Talks.

The event featured prominent experts, including Miłosz Brzeziński, author of books and articles on the practical application of psychology, university lecturer and performance consultant. In his speech, he talked about how our behaviour is influenced by our environment, including our relationships with others.

The idea of space mining was discussed by Tomasz Rożek, a well-known journalist and physicist involved in popularisation of science and author of the popular channel "Nauka to Lubię" (Science, I Like it). In an online interview, he answered, among other things, the question of whether space mines and the extraction of raw materials beyond our planet are science fiction or a real prospect.

The final guest at Copper Talks 2021 was Adam Haertle, an IT cybersecurity expert and editor-in-chief of the Trusted Third Party website. In a discussion on contemporary threats, he gave his opinion on the great importance of hacking attacks for international relations, which can affect the economic situation of countries or political events.

Guests known from the Internet media, specialists from fields related to new technologies or giving us a fresh perspective on reality, and at the same time from different fields - all this made up a meeting which was full of original thoughts on today's society, human functioning or the economy of tomorrow.

Please, feel invited you to watch the event. The recording is now available on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAHj5Fn4_yA.
