Celebration of the anniversary of the Kłodzko Spas owned by the KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Group

History of therapeutic activities and spa production, exhibitions and anniversary publications - Kłodzko Spas, owned by the KGHM Group are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. On 6 June, the most deserving spa employees were honoured at a gala event.

On 1 January 1974, by virtue of the Regulation of the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, the previously separate state-owned enterprises ‘Uzdrowisko Polanica’, ‘Uzdrowisko Duszniki’ and ‘Uzdrowisko Kudowa’ became a single organism under the name of ‘Zespół Uzdrowisk Kłodzkich - przedsiębiorstwo państwowe’, today Uzdrowiska Kłodzkie SA - Grupa PGU.

The anniversary gala took place at the Spa Theatre in Polanica-Zdrój, where employees received honours and awards. Among them are people with more than 40 years of service with the company. The event also featured a presentation showing the history, present and future of Kłodzko Spas. The band Raz Dwa Trzy played for the participants.

Kłodzko spas have an extremely rich history and are inextricably linked to the history of Lower Silesia. Spa activities are carried out in 14 facilities located in Polanica, Duszniki and Kudowa-Zdrój, which offer a total of more than 1,500 beds. Spa treatment is carried out on the basis of contracts with the National Health Fund and in a full-pay formula, which is gaining more and more clients every year, both nationally and internationally.

On the other hand, the production of mineral waters is carried out in 3 bottling plants located in Jeleniów and Polanica-Zdrój, where excellent quality mineral waters are bottled under the Staropolanka and Wielka Pieniawa brands.

More than PLN 300 million for investment in the Spas of the Polish Spa Group

Uzdrowiska Kłodzkie S.A. - Grupa PGU, which is celebrating its anniversary - among other things, has started work on the comprehensive modernisation of the Jan Kazimierz spa hospital in Duszniki-Zdrój. Soon, this iconic landmark of Duszniki-Zdrój will change its appearance and dramatically improve comfort for its guests. The modernisation work covers a number of areas, aiming to raise standards and improve comfort for patients and guests.

The Kłodzkie Spa also has plans to renovate the remaining reference facilities in Polanica-Zdrój and Kudowa-Zdrój. The value of the projects currently underway amounts to more than PLN 54 million, and we will be able to see their results next year.

At the Świeradów Spa, projects have been launched to improve the quality of services and develop the infrastructure for its guests. One such project was initiated by the decision to reactivate the operation of the water drinking building in Czerniawa, which operated in the spring and autumn. In Świeradów, a contract was also signed for the design of the extension of the ‘Borowina’ natural health care facility with its expansion to include hotel and spa areas, including the construction of a swimming pool and underground car park.

The Połczyn Spa, by signing a contract for the modernisation of Gryf located in Połczyn, has completed the investment preparation process, which lasted more than two years and, once completed, will transform the Gryf sanatorium in Połczyn-Zdrój into a modern spa facility of hotel standard.

Further plans for the Połczyn Spa include the reactivation of mineral water production and the construction of a modern complex on the site of the demolished Irena sanatorium, together with treatment facilities, which is currently the subject of design work.

As part of this investment project, a further PLN 20 million will be spent on a major renovation of the Barbarka sanatorium and leisure centre in Świnoujście, acquired by Uzdrowisko Połczyn in 2017. Thanks to the investment, the facility will gain new interiors for the hotel rooms, modern treatment facilities, a dining room with a café and a wet area with a jacuzzi and sauna.

The construction of Spa Thermal Baths, a modern facility for visitors from all over Poland, is underway in the Cieplice Spa. The investment project will cost more than PLN 60 million and will be completed in mid-2025. The hotel will include almost 180 beds at a high hotel standard. The facility’s high four-star standard will ensure a comfortable stay for patients.

Earthworks and geological surveys are currently underway at the site to prepare the area for the start of the construction of the foundations of the new facility. Work is also being done to secure the foundation of the Spring House, which will be connected to the Spa Thermal Baths. A therapeutic water intake and a storage tank located on the site are also being secured.

In total, the spas that are part of the Polish Spa Group (KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Group) are plan to spend more than PLN 310 million on investments over the next five years, of which more than PLN 230 million is to be spent in the years 2024-2025.
